Jack Russell Terrier Breed Information

The Jack Russell Terrier is a hardy breed that was reputed to have been originally developed by an English Clergyman in the Nineteeth Century. Jack Russell named this small dog with a big personality after himself! The Jack Russell Terrier was bred to hunt, used often to dig the foxes out of their dens when they went to ground. As a breed the focus stayed on the Jack Russell's working ability and long-legged ones were used to keep up with fox hounds. The modern Jack Russell Terrier still needs a good deal of exercise for it to be happy and not become a nuisance.

Jack Russell Terriers must be predominantly white but the colour and pattern variants can be huge. There are also smooth and rough coated Jack Russell Terriers further increasing the variation in look. Well exercised dogs will have a sturdy chest and strong legs. They are understood to be a clear dog, some turning that into mischief. Jack Russells are however fiercely loyal and will stand by their owners everytime.

Jack Russell Terriers are lovely dogs with a lot of energy, they like to be played with a walked until they are worn out - and then they will relax and stretch out in the hope of a good belly rub!
